It’s the start of a another new year – new hopes, new goals, new adventures. Here at Habersham we are embarking on a musical adventure of the grandest scale. This spring, the Logic and Rhetoric schools will present Meredith Willson’s classic Tony-award-winning musical, The Music Man.
This endearing story follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
There are many opportunities for students and parents alike in this task of dramatic proportions! Auditions for onstage roles (acting, singing and/or dancing) will be held at Gould Cottage after school on Thursday, January 7th and Friday, January 8th. Please sign up in the office of either campus if you plan to audition. Audition information packets are available in the office or you can download it here.
There are also opportunities for back stage, tech crew, set building, etc. Please let me know if you are interested in any off-stage positions.
The Drama Program at Habersham continues to stretch & grow every season, every production. I love to see the comraderie & dedication that develops as students work together, encouraging one another as they head toward the common goal. It’s yet another reason why The Habersham School stands out in our great community.
I’m so very excited about this adventure and can’t wait to see what our amazing students show us on April 22nd, 23rd, and 25th. They always exceed my expectations. See you at auditions.
