Habersham beat Heritage Christian 3-0 behind 10 kills from Brownette Olson, 6 from Myla Shippy, 7 aces from Anna Livingood and 18 assists and 4 kills from Lucy Kelly. The Lady Patriots are 21-16 and 6-1 in region. Go Pats!

Habersham boys and girls teams both took 3rd place in the Canonball 5k at Middle GA State Univesity! Daniil Phillips led the boys with a 2nd place time of 18:31. Gabby Kenard led the girls finishing 4th at 23:17 and Holland Hogan was 9th at 24:15. Go Pats!

Habersham swept a double header against Trinity Christian 2-1 and 2-0. In the first match Brownie Olson had 8 kills, Myla Shippy 7 and Lucy Kelly 18 assists. In the second match Pier Schneider had 9 kills, Olson 8, and Kelly 20 digs. Habersham is 20-16, 5-1 in region. Go Pats!

Habersham won silver in the 26th annual Augusta Prep Tournament. The lady Patriots beat Mead Hall 26-24, 28-26 and Augusta Eagles 25-21, 25-18 behind 7 kills each from Brownie Olson and Myla Shippy and 16 assists from Lucy Kelly. Go Pats!

Habersham Varsity boys team placed 2nd led by Daniil Phillips (18:51) who came in 2nd overall among 119 runners, followed by Tyson Harper, Tripp Fowler, Ike Barry and Seth Lenix. Ivy Ann Hogan led the girls placing 23rd out of 65 runners. Go Pats!

Habersham beat Alleluia Community and Heritage Christian 2-1 to sweep the night. Pier Schneider led the way in the first match with 8 aces, 8 kills and Lucy Kelly with 18 assists. In the 2nd match it was Brownie Olson with 6 kills and 4 aces. Habersham is 15-9; 3-0 in region.

The Varsity Boys finished 4th at the Frazier-Hite Invitational, while both the Middle School Boys and Girls finished 1st.
Sophomore Daniil Phillips took 4th overall, with a season opening time of 19:43. Senior Tyson Harper, sophomore Tripp Fowler, senior Ike Barry, and freshman Isaiah Stephens rounded out the scorers for Habersham.

In the Middle School race, the girls team took the top four spots, led by eighth grader Sadie McGarity in 1st, at 14:12, followed by Ellie Stephens (2nd), Gaby Kenard (3rd), and Eliana Beckman (4th).

The Middle School boys team were led by sixth grader Ryder Perdue, who finished 1st overall in a time of 13:00, and seventh grader Micah Ward who finished in 3rd overall.

Our upper school choir had the unique opportunity to work on their four part acapella harmony with the local barbershop quartet, 13th Colony Sound, in class this week. They will be performing two songs with this same ensemble this Sunday, September 10th at 4 p.m., at a concert entitled Music Unites The Generations. Come join the fun and support your Patriot singers!

What does a watermelon have in common with Tom Petty? They are both free fallin’, of course!
Mr. Manley’s College Physics class took some time on September 8th to explore the fact that objects in “free fall” (moving only under the influence of gravity) accelerate at approximately 9.8 m/s² when dropped near sea level. The students will analyze the motion of the falling watermelon to calculate the height of the bleachers just outside of The PAC, and verify the acceleration due to gravity. Just another day of science adventures at The Habersham School!

Due to the inclement weather expected to be brought on by Hurricane Idalia, The Habersham School will close on Wednesday, August 30th, and Thursday, August 31st. Please remain in prayer for all in the path of Idalia as we prepare for the incoming storm. As a reminder, we do not have school on Friday (originally a Professional Development day for teachers) or Monday (Labor Day).

All after-school events are also canceled for Wednesday and Thursday.

All after-school events scheduled for today – including athletics, aftercare, conservatory, etc. – will proceed as planned unless otherwise notified.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday when we return. Please stay safe and enjoy the unexpected long break!

The House Leadership Retreat took place August 11th - 13th! Our House Leaders traveled to Woodland Christian Camp in Temple, Georgia to take on exciting low ropes challenge activities that require a team effort to solve. They were also able to enjoy some high ropes challenges like the zip-line over the camp’s lake. Our leaders were encouraged by guest speaker, Dr. Jim Donovan from Point University, to chase after Jesus (Colossians 3:1-2) and to represent Jesus in all they do this next year (Colossians 3:17). All had a wonderful time at the retreat!
