The Athletic Department at The Habersham School exists to provide student-athletes with structured physical experiences that enrich their education by leading them through challenges and opportunities that are unique to the world of athletics.
This is accomplished for many student-athletes who play for Habersham teams competing in local leagues. Varsity and Junior Varsity teams compete in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association’s (GICAA) Southeast Region, Division II-A. Logic School teams compete in The Savannah Parochial Athletic League (SPAL). Habersham fields teams in these leagues for the following sports: GICAA – Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball; SPAL – Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball (Greater Savannah Middle School Baseball League). These teams are coached by qualified and experienced coaches who combine a deep understanding of their sport with a desire to see their players develop as young men and women while they develop as athletes.
In less than four years, Habersham has produced one State Championship (Volleyball-2015), four All-State volleyball players (2015), top-ten finishes in the State Cross Country Meet (2015, 2014), and multiple All-Region awards from players and coaches, all at the GICAA level.
The Habersham School also requires all students from Pre-K through Logic School to participate in Physical Education classes. These classes prepare students for participation in a variety of team sports through the development of gross motor skills and the implementation of age-specific movements and skills associated with each sport. In addition to getting regular physical exercise, students are experience teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship in a structured environment.
In addition to these offerings, there are several afterschool programs with qualified instructors who have been approved by The Habersham School. Students aged five or above have the opportunity for instruction in swimming, soccer, and chess. More such programs will be added soon.
