Dear Fellow Habersham Grandparents,
On November 18th at the request of our Head of School, Mr. McGee, I had the privilege of speaking to many of you at Grandparents Day.
My wife Barbara and I have two grandsons in the Upper School at Habersham and have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow at this school. It is our hope that Savannah and the Chatham area soon realize what a gem they have in The Habersham School!
Where else are students given the opportunity to learn the humanities, philosophy, the great books, mathematics, science, and critical thinking all through the lens of the Gospel? A Habersham education reminds me of the education many of us received but one that is sadly a bit more difficult to find in this modern world.
Two things that stand out to me at Habersham are the study of Latin and the critical thinking skills that our grandchildren are developing. Latin is a rather difficult language to master and yet The Habersham School routinely graduates Latin scholars each year. Furthermore, through their “Senior Thesis,” each senior must research, write, present, and defend their conclusions before a board of faculty members. How impressive!
Needless to say, a graduate of The Habersham School will be more than equipped to meet not only the challenges of their university studies but also life beyond. I am thankful for the foundation our grandchildren are receiving at Habersham, as they will become the new Christian leaders of the generation to come, each making an impact in their chosen professions.
It is with that in mind that I ask you to consider joining Barbara and me in supporting The Habersham School through the “Habersham Fund” this school year. To date, our community has raised $225,000 toward the goal of $400,000 to be raised by May 31, 2023.
Imagine what could happen if every grandparent supported Habersham? Not only would we quickly surpass our goal, but our school would also be able to deploy these resources to continue to turn out well-educated men and women who love the Lord and will become our future leaders.
It is not about the amount given, but rather it is about how many of us in the Patriot grandparent family can come together to support Habersham! To those who have already given, thank you for your faithfulness and support of this mission.
Let’s do this together so we can continue to meet the needs of our grandchildren as they grow in the fear and admonition of the Lord at The Habersham School.
In Christ,
Charles & Barbara Towles
