Dear Fellow Patriots,
As I conclude my service as your interim Head of School, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Trustees, my Executive Leadership Team, the faculty and staff, parents, and students for warmly welcoming me into this special community. It has truly been a privilege and pleasure to work alongside so many worthy servants who give their time, talent, and treasure to help Habersham fulfill its vital mission “in seeking the restoration of His image in our students….” I am so excited about the future of The Habersham School and will be watching with great interest how God will use the school for His glory. In the words of my friend and successor, Pat McCarty, “the best is yet to come.”
Having been associated with the school for three years, first, as an executive coach to the board and two interim heads, and most recently as your part-time interim head, I am so proud of the remarkable progress the school has made in three years. Habersham is growing up and becoming a mature school, with policies and procedures that are consistent with best practices found in well-managed private and Christian schools nationwide. We are now blessed with an engaged, high-functioning board that understands its roles and responsibilities as governors of this institution. We are also blessed with a competent, devoted leadership team that diligently manages the day-to-day operations of the school with excellence. Their competency has been demonstrated by their success in running the school without my physical presence. They deserve your praise and gratitude for all they do on behalf of your children and your family.
As I gladly pass the leadership baton to Mr. McCarty, I am filled with a spirit of gratitude for my time at Habersham. I will miss my monthly visits to this beautiful city. I will especially miss the regular fellowship with an incredible group of teachers and staff who are among the most devoted group of educators that I have ever known. I depart with dozens of new friends in Savannah and a reason to return to this area periodically to visit my new friends. I can hardly wait to see the school in action at our new Skidaway Road Campus. Most importantly, I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with this leadership opportunity that has been a joyful addendum to my career as a Christian school educator. These last three years have been an Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) experience: “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Godspeed, Habersham community. I am confident that “the best is yet to come.”
Faithfully yours and forever a Patriot,
Bill McGee
