Greetings Patriot Families,
We are Toby and Jaime Tift, and we are honored to be serving on the Habersham Fund Parent Committee as representatives of the 9th – 12th grade. Our sons Thomas ’21, Tyler ’23, and Matt have all attended The Habersham School.
Our introduction to the school came in the winter of 2013 as we were deciding on middle school for our oldest son, and we attended an open house at Gould Cottage. We were struck by several things that morning, but chief among them was the relational engagement of the students with each other and with their teachers. This paired perfectly with the classical education model and curriculum that we had read about. It was also evident to us after leaving that day that, in a private school landscape that had several school options that were Christian in name, The Habersham School was uniquely consistent in its message of gospel grace and in its intentionality to treat students, faculty, and parents as image bearers of Christ.
Our oldest son, Thomas, began the 6th grade at Habersham in the fall of 2014, and was joined by his brothers the following year, Tyler in 5th and Matt in 1st. Since that time, we have experienced so many seminal moments that have helped shape our boys and our family: SPAL basketball championships, musical theatre productions, Washington DC trips, a baseball state championship, golf team road trips, chorus performances, basketball final fours, cello recitals, and more. In all of those, our boys have been poured into, taught, and mentored by so many influential teachers, administrators, and coaches whom we consider partners in raising them. The Habersham School, along with our church, family, and friends, has played a key role in reinforcing habits, beliefs, and ideals in our children to help prepare them to face the challenges of teenage life with confidence, assurance, and integrity. While receiving a top-notch education, our boys have also developed relationships and friendships that will last a lifetime, and Jaime and I have developed some of our closest relationships with other couples and families, all through connections with The Habersham School.
There have been challenges over the years that come with being involved in a small and new school but I truly believe that The Habersham School is currently in its best place yet. The excitement of a consolidated central campus, an active and dedicated board, strong administrative leadership, and a committed faculty all have the school poised for great things. We are as happy and confident as ever to support the school financially, trusting the stewardship of our leaders to be prudent and discerning in steering the school into its bright future. Savannah desperately needs The Habersham School, as there is truly no other option like it in town, and we are honored to support it.
We hope you will join us as joyful givers to the Habersham Fund this year and help the school have its highest level of parent participation yet. The school needs our generosity that reaches beyond tuition dollars in supporting its mission (and our mission as families) to partner with God as His servants in seeking the restoration of His image in our students through education.
Sincerely,
Toby & Jaime
