Hello Fellow Patriots!
We are the Walters family: Adam, Susan, Carolyn (7th), and Hannah (1st) and we are honored to be on the Habersham Fund Parent Committee this year representing 6th-8th grades.
The Lord brought us on a journey to The Habersham School and for that we are thankful. In fact, he used other families within the school sharing their experiences to fuel our initial inquiry.
In the Spring of 2022, our oldest daughter Carolyn and I (Susan) found ourselves at the Patriot Preview. I was blown away by the light of Jesus that was evident in the life of each person who shared that morning. When we got in the car to leave, I asked Carolyn what stuck out to her. Her answer left me dumbfounded. “They had real books.”
Yes, we had initiated the exploration of other school options, but books were never on the list of things we were in search of. While schools all around us had raced to achieve their goals of one-to-one technology, The Habersham School remained true to its foundation of Christian education through classical literature, conversation, and ultimately engagement. Our child enjoyed school but was spending much of her impressionable time with a Chromebook, PDF textbook, and Google forms.
When we think of The Habersham School the word engagement keeps coming to mind: the intentionality of an engaging smile and handshake at drop off, beginning the day together in Liturgy to engage in God’s word, praise and prayer, the classical literature read aloud at all ages and the class engagement that follows. These are all examples of how our leaders and teachers are engaging our children not only in their education but in the condition of their hearts.
We never realized that an opportunity existed for our children’s education to truly intersect with their discipleship.
It’s always been easy for us to financially support our church, overseas ministries, and college ministries that have influenced our individual walks. This year, through the grace of God, He has revealed to us an additional place we should always support with our time, talent, and treasure — Christian education. The Habersham School is poised to disciple our children daily, one engagement at a time.
We never expected the Lord would call us to serve Him through our school. Sure, we volunteered and made donations at the public and private schools we were part of before. It’s just that the Lord has made it abundantly clear to us that we have an opportunity to support His kingdom work through The Habersham School.
Please consider joining us as we support our school through the Habersham Fund this year.
We are honored for the opportunity to be a part of the Habersham Fund Parent Committee and for the growth of our school as we enter a new season at the Skidaway Road Campus. Thank you for reading a bit of our story. We pray that our experience will allow you another vantage point as to how the Lord has set The Habersham School apart and is worthy of our financial support.
In Christ,
Adam & Susan Walters
