Dear Fellow Patriots,
We are Ashley and Catherine Smith, and we’re honored to serve as the chairs of the Habersham Fund this year. Our journey with The Habersham School began back in 2014 when we enrolled our children, Ash and Mary. Ash graduated in 2022 and is now a sophomore at Samford University and Mary will graduate this May with the Class of 2024.
Our experience with the Habersham family has been nothing short of transformational. In a city with numerous educational options, making the right choice for your child can be challenging. While there are many important factors to consider such as school size, athletics, secondary and postsecondary educational opportunities, our children’s social life, and so on, we knew a distinctly Christ-centered education was of the utmost importance and something we would prioritize in our school search.
One of the distinguishing features of The Habersham School is its covenantal approach, aligning the school and parents in a shared vision for our children’s spiritual development, not just their academic achievements. Habersham’s intimate environment allowed our children to be more than just faces in a crowd; they became individuals known and cared for by their teachers and the community at large. This community has been a steadfast source of encouragement and support for our family throughout the years.
As we witness Ash winsomely navigate the challenges of college life, we can attest firsthand to the excellent preparation he received at Habersham. Similarly, as Mary approaches graduation all too rapidly, we’re confident in her readiness to succeed not just in college but in life. That’s the power of a Habersham education. We rest assured knowing that our children have been given a foundation at Habersham that will serve them well for the rest of their lives in whatever the Lord calls them to.
It is for these reasons and many more that we have always felt called to financially support this unique mission. There is simply no place in Savannah like Habersham and it is our heart and desire to see our school grow deeper roots in order that it may further impact our community and serve future students for the cause of Christ, just as it has for our children.
With that in mind, we would like to invite you to join us in financially supporting The Habersham School this year through the Habersham Fund. Last year, 73% of our parent body gave to the Habersham Fund – a percentage well over the national average for parental support. What an encouragement this is to partner with like-minded families in support of our school.
Our prayer is that you would consider again supporting this mission and that we may achieve even higher parent participation this year – a metric vitally important as our school seeks to gain outside support from various philanthropic foundations. We all have various demands on our financial resources, yet are like-minded in our desire to provide and enhance a Christ-centered education for our children and future generations.
Short of the local church, we can think of no more compelling mission to support than The Habersham School.
Join us in this endeavor and let’s see what God can do.
Sincerely,
Ashley and Catherine Smith
